Getting started

WattPlan writes you a training plan, then rebuilds it around the rides you actually do. Setting up takes about ten minutes. Here is what happens and what to have ready.

1. Sign in

Use Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address and password. Your account is tied to the sign-in you choose, so use the same one every time. Email sign-ups get a verification message first.

2. Connect where your rides live

Connect Garmin, Strava or Wahoo. New rides then arrive on their own, usually within a few minutes of finishing. You can skip this step and connect later from Settings, but connecting first lets the next step use your real history.

3. Start from real numbers

If you connected a platform, import your recent rides. WattPlan works out your Fitness, Fatigue and Form from them, and estimates your FTP from your best efforts. If you have no history yet, enter an FTP you trust or pick a sensible estimate and test it later. A rough starting point is fine; the plan corrects as rides come in.

4. Tell it when you can ride

Choose the days you can train and how long you have on each. Mark one day as your long ride. The plan is built inside those hours and never puts a workout on a day you said you cannot ride.

5. Pick a goal

An event with a date, general fitness, an FTP target, or one big ride. With an event, the plan works backwards from the date through base, build, peak and taper. Without one, it builds steadily and keeps going.

6. Ride

The dashboard shows today's workout and your Fitness and Form. Ride outside and the file imports itself. Ride indoors with the workout player and a Bluetooth trainer. Ask the Coach if you want to move, swap or lighten a workout; it changes the plan, not just the advice.
